The short version
Your video or audio file is read and processed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to us. We do not receive the file, its file name, its metadata, the subtitles made from it, or your edits. The privacy and security page explains how this is enforced and how you can check it yourself.
No account
There is no account and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name or your email address to use the tool.
What your browser downloads
The page downloads static files from this site: its HTML, styles, scripts, and images. When you add your first file, it also downloads the transcription engine (a WebAssembly program), the speech recognition model you picked (about 60 MB for the smaller one, about 264 MB for the larger one, split into parts), and a voice detector of under 1 MB. These are ordinary file downloads, and they carry no information about your file. So you do not download them again on every visit, the page keeps the verified parts of the model and the detector in your browser's Cache Storage for this site, and your browser keeps the engine in its ordinary cache. They contain only the engine and the models, never your videos, recordings, or subtitles, and you can remove them by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Hosting
The site is delivered as static files through a hosting and content-delivery provider, which processes standard technical request data (such as your IP address and user agent) to deliver and secure the site. That data does not contain your file.
Analytics, cookies, and storage
The site ships no analytics and no error reporter, and its pages set no cookies. Apart from the model parts described above, the page's scripts store nothing in your browser: the subtitles and your edits exist only in the open tab until you close the tab or press Start over.

If you email us, we receive what you send, including your email address, and use it only to answer you. Please do not attach private recordings.
